Brisbane based Robyn Sheptooha has been counselling for 15 years within the fields of relationship and family counselling. Her genuine interest for people of all different ages, cultural backgrounds and phases in life has emerged professionally from her own personal experiences of growing up in a multi-cultural neighbourhood where the languages, rituals, music and cultures of her Greek, German, and Aussie friends merged and developed respectfully.

From these rich foundations Robyn’s desire to be of humanitarian service flourished. Firstly in her work as a nurse and midwife for over 10 years, as a parent to her 4 children, and as a coordinator of a school based environmental program for 5 years. She then moved into roles as a Telephone counsellor/facilitator with Lifeline for 5 years.

In 2004 Robyn began working as a Relationship and Family counsellor for Relationships Australia and during her 5 years within this organisation she had opportunities to work with children, adolescents, couples, individuals and families. The sessions offered have taken the form of individual, group and reflecting team approaches.

During 2009 Robyn trained in Expressive Therapies which offers clients diverse opportunities to make use of Art, Movement, Music, Sandplay and Symbols to deepen their understanding of themselves and provide different ways of looking at things with fresh perspectives and creative options.

Over the past 10 years working face to face with clients in a client centred collaborative framework, Robyn has supported children, teenagers, and adults as they transition through challenges arising from their current and past circumstances. Assistance has been sought to work with: relationship and communication issues, anxiety, depression, grief, loss, trauma, suicidal ideation, crisis intervention, sexual abuse, anger management, parenting, separation and divorce, blended families, domestic violence, sexual libido, and same sex issues. Robyn has been continually inspired by the strength and resilience of the human spirit during her years of practice. She finds enrichment in the learning and discovery that comes from the poetry and writings of Rumi, Kahlil Gibran, Pablo Neruda, Paulo Coelho, Irving Yalom, John Kabat-Zinn, Mark Pearson,  Pema Chodron, Tara Brach and Buddhist Teachings, and many other bountiful thinkers.
